当“现实感”交汇时

“存在就是被感知”。人所感知到的世界,和世界本身相比,相当的有限,这是生而为人的局限。但我们又只能通过肉身感知来真切的触摸世界,除此之外都是假想。

艺术是表达,是艺术家融合感知、假想后的再造。即使一再强调“现实”,艺术家的再造物,只是和现实相平行的新的“现实”。它所表达的,是艺术家对现实的综合感受,而且相当的个人化。

身处中国现场,现实处境对人的影响,是谁都无法摆脱的。“现实感”因人而异,而且随时流动变化着。积重难返的常规问题对人的深重影响,和移动互联网普及所带来的新契机,在当下生成着新的“现实感”。在金锋、肖雄这两位艺术家的新作中,这种“现实感”或隐或显的聚焦于暴力。

金锋的《关于暴力美学的研究方案之一》,几百根警棍被剥、削、切、割后,暴力功能被降减、物料被重组。通过几何学般的排列组合,金锋把暴力工具纳入理性逻辑中,试图用各种冷静、善意的方案,在一个富有感官魅力的氛围中,来探讨暴力最小化的可能。一个个秩序化的排列组合,也是一个个认知模型。当每个人的“现实感”和这些模型进行印证时,会揣摩个体之间和平共处和发展的可能性。

肖雄的《大众花园》,从希特勒青年时期的水彩画中“采摘”出一组菊花,在丝绸上矩阵式的重复刺绣,形成满布菊花的帷幔,乌鸦栖身其中。被复制于丝绸上的簇簇菊花,召唤着人心中对生命中美好状态的渴慕。但当这种美好渴慕,和希特勒这一特殊人物联接起来时,在可知的历史知识中,变幻莫测的欲望和生存处境的复杂关系,让“人性”这个大而化之的概念,充满了难言的张力。

“现实感”首先是个体的,但不同个体又有共通或交叉的感受,因为有些问题是共同面对的。当金锋和肖雄交叉于“暴力”时,某种看似共谋的默契,可能是无奈的不约而同、必然的不期而遇。这时,当下特有的“现实感”从何而来、向何处去?

【The Intersection of Sense of Reality】

The famous principle proposed by George Berkeley, “To be is to be perceived”, gave a meaning that reality doesn’t exist outside our perception of it.

 Works of art are treated as a matter of expression, an expression of reconstruction combining the perception and imagination of artists. Even though the sense of reality is always emphasised, works of art are inevitably the recreation by artists, paralleling with our real life. We call it a new reality. This new reality expresses and contains comprehensive feelings of an artist on the real life, and has to be present in a personal way.

Living in China, people are unable to entirely get rid of the impact of real life. The sense of reality varies with each individual, and changes as time goes on. The profound impact of ingrained habits coexists with the new influence brought by the popularity of mobile internet. Such a coexistence situation generated a new sense of reality for each person. The new sense of reality is present in the fresh works of Jin Feng, and Xiao Xiong, with a focus on violence both implicitly and explicitly.

Introduction of artists’ works:

<One of the Research Approaches to Violence Aesthetics> by Jin Feng presents with special treatments, including peeling, shaving, chopping and cutting, on hundreds of billy clubs. The purpose of these special treatments is to reduce the violence function of these typical tools through recombination of materials. Through geometrical arrangements, Jin Feng incorporates materials of billy clubs into the logic of artistic creation. He tried to express his works in a clam and kind way and with sensory appeals, wherein the possibility of violence minimisation is discussed thoroughly. Notably, a series of orderly arrangements can be seen as a series of perceiving models. These models not merely provide verification of a new sense of reality for each person, but also trigger a series of thinking about  possibility of creating a life of peace and prosperity.

 Xiao Xiong produces <People’s Garden> by stitching repeatedly in a matrix chrysanthemums and crows onto the silk. The identity of chrysanthemums is picked from a watercolour of Adolf Hitler in his youth. The copy of all these chrysanthemums on the silk naturally evokes people’s desire for happiness in life. However, when the work is linked with Adolf Hitler, a controversial person in terms of a true humanism, a enormous tension emerges between a sincere and pleasant desire and the realistic situation.

 Conclusion:

Primarily, a sense of reality is an individual thing. Nonetheless, different people can also share a sense of reality, especially when they are together facing a certain issue. Regarding the violence topic, two artists, Jin Feng and Xiao Xiong correlate with each other closely by their creation. This correlation can be regarded as a coincidence of creation on the one hand, and be treated as a necessity of production on the other hand. At this moment, who knows where the unique sense of reality, acquired from these artworks, comes from and goes?

作品简述:

金锋作品叫做“关于暴力美学的研究方案之一”。作品有两部分组成:一是被切、削下来的橡胶覆盖于墙面,另一部分是弹簧钢条组成的平面几何图形。金锋保持了他对现成品转换的一贯思路,这次作品所转换的材料来自于警棍。金锋试图消解暴力工具的功能性,使得现成品转换出某种理性的价值与秩序来。在今天如此聒噪的时代,如何让理性回归现实,这也许是金锋想在“暴力美学”中探讨的话题。

Introduction

The name of Jin Feng’s work called ’One of the research approaches to violence aesthetics’ .The work was made by two parts:One is cut rubber which covers the wall,another part is Geometric plane shapes which were made by Spring Steel bars.Jin Feng keep his usual idea which is the changing of ready-made objects ,this time is Spontoon. The artist tried to clear up the function  of violence tools in order to find the  rationality value and order of  the ready-made objects .In the present clamorous age,how to  make rational back to the reality,it is also the topic that Jin Feng want to discuss with through the ‘violence aesthetics’.

作品简述:

作品为一个直径260cm的圆形悬挂装置,白色丝绸面上是希特勒的一个花卉纹样,为银色刺绣。圆顶上有两只乌鸦向下俯视,圆形中间有一个鸟笼中一只八哥鸟,同时圆形内一个呼吸灯光渐暗渐亮。

Introduction

Work as a 260 cm diameter circular suspension installation,the surface of white silk is a flower pattern of Hitler,it is silver embroidery.There are two crows looking down from the dome,and there is a mynah bird in the cage in the middle of the dome,meanwhile,inside the circle a breathing lights dimmed coming on.
