We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition On Curbstone Jewels and Cobblestones at Daimler Contemporary Berlin, on November 12th, 2015 at 7 p.m.
On Curbstone Jewels and Cobblestones is the second part of an exhibition series on Chinese and international contemporary art in the context of the Daimler Art Collection. Whereas the first part of our exhibition series specifically focused on conceptual trends in video art and installation art, the exhibition entitled On Curbstone Jewels and Cobblestones focuses on the juxtaposition of sculptural works with photography. This exhibition with artworks by fifteen artists from seven nations outlines aspects of human living together in densely populated urban areas, in the rapidly growing great cities of China in particular. As fictions, but also as concrete experiments in influencing the society of which they are a product, these artworks discuss the social and political consequences of urbanization. Once more, these works also remind us, just how much views of China have shifted over the past two decades.

戴姆勒艺术收藏（Daimler Art Collection）
戴姆勒艺术收藏始于1977年，第一幅藏品出自Willi Baumeister。其收藏初期以绘画作品为主，涉及艺术家包括南德艺术家，斯图加特学院师生（如Adolf Hölzel, Oskar Schlemmer, Willi Baumeister等），及瑞士艺术家Hans Arp和 Max Bill。发展至今，戴姆勒艺术收藏已拥有700余位国际艺术家共约2600件作品，涵盖欧洲、南非、印度、南美和中国等多位具有国际影响力艺术家如Andy Warhol，Alfredo Jaar，Josef Albers，Joseph Kosuth，Liam Gillick，Nan June Paik，Robert Rauschenberg，Sean Scully，杨福东和徐震等人的作品。
